This week's Twinchie

Here is my twinchie for "Small World of Inchies and Twinchies" challenge. This week the theme is "school". This young lady, her name is Lucy, rather day dream than be at school! It is so much more fun!

I started with a blank 2 x 2 ivory square and used gel medium to adhere wrinkled blue paper napkin tissue. Then I took the definition "learning" from a old dictionary and the music from an old choir book and glued them on. I added wings to the girl, stamped letters and numbers on the background and then added gold stickles to the edge and wings. Lastly, I gave her a crown of imaginary stars, since she doesn't get gold stars in school! Oh, and then I added the words that were edged in blue and edged the right side of the square with orange. So much fun!!!

"Dreams" Tag Turtorial

Happy Saturday!
Here is a tag I created for a swap that is opening today at PaperWhimsy. The wonderful texture of the background was created by using a paper napkin. I love the way it looks and it is so easy to do. This tag could be used to adorn a present and also as a bookmark.
Here it is, my first video! In this tutorial I am demonstrating how to make the "Dreams" tag from start to finish. I hope it is helpful and entertaining.

"Dream" shrine

This is the first time I have ever done anything like this (I seem to be saying that a lot lately!).
Which shows that I have been truly stretching my creative wings and trying many new things.

This shrine is for a swap at Paperwhimsy. When I began it, I really didn't know where it was going, and then late last night a vision of it came to me, I was energised and worked late to complete it. There is something about late at night, when everyone else is asleep, that often ignites my creativity!

New and Exciting!

Happy Monday everyone!

It is a beautiful day here. I have been working on a new art piece in my craft room all day, the sun has been shining and the cool breeze has been coming in the window. I was going to put music on, but the birds have kindly been singing all day!

New things this week...I am hosting my first swap over at Paperwhimsy. I have been learning much there and also meeting fantastic artists! Also....I have made my first ever video!!! In it I am demonstrating how to make a tag using a paper napkin for the substrate. It was a great deal of fun! We have had to learn new things to do this! (we as in my wonderful hubby and I) I will be posting it here on my blog on Saturday. So come on back and see how I did! I would love to have your feedback on this, I will be making more and I want to make them as helpful as possible.
I will be posting new art photos soon as well.
Hugs to all!

Inchies and Twinchies

These are my first entries in the Inchies and Twinchies weekly challenge. This weeks theme is "Swirls". It is hard to see my swirls on the inchies, but they are there in blue. I really enjoyed making these!

Treasure Hunting

Over the weekend I visited my favorite antique store. I love strolling around and looking at all the artifacts of the past. I get a thrill when I find a stack of old photos. Looking through them, I always wonder if I will run across a picture of someone I know! But so far, I haven't. Although I must say, the smiles on their faces as they pose by the beach, or on their porch all look so familiar. I wonder why?
I love looking for old teacups. When I travel, I like to bring one home with me. Sometimes I will buy china. Last week I found 4 old plates that I just loved the color and pattern of. I also keep an eye out for vintage postcards, sheet music, old books and paper oddities. I have seen some really interesting things! But what I look for the most when I am out hunting is antique lace. When I find some, I feel like I have located lost treasure! I discovered some lovely pieces this time out as well as some notions. It was a very satisfying hunt!

Trying New Things

These are Rolodex cards that I have "artsied" up for a swap over at marvelous PaperWhimsy. I had never heard of this before and I thought it would be a fun new thing to try...and it was!
I will be mailing mine out in the morning and soon I will recieve back a mix of the same number of cards from other artists! Now that is exciting to me!
